A loader is a widely used earthmoving machine in construction projects such as highways, railways, buildings, hydropower, ports, and mines. It is primarily used for loading and unloading bulk materials such as soil, sand, gravel, lime, and coal, and can also perform light digging operations on ores and hard soil. With different auxiliary attachments, it can also be used for bulldozing, lifting, and loading and unloading other materials such as timber. In road construction, especially on high-grade highways, loaders are used for filling and excavating roadbeds, and for collecting and loading asphalt mixtures and cement concrete materials. They can also be used for pushing and transporting soil, leveling ground, and towing other machinery. Due to its advantages such as high operating speed, high efficiency, good maneuverability, and easy operation, the loader has become one of the main types of machinery used in earthmoving construction projects.
The main components include the engine, torque converter, transmission, and front and rear drive axles, collectively referred to as the four major parts:
1. Engine;
2. The torque converter has three pumps: a working pump (supplying lifting and tipping hydraulic pressure), a steering pump (supplying steering hydraulic pressure), and a transmission pump, also known as a travel pump (supplying torque converter and transmission hydraulic pressure). Some models also have a pilot pump on the steering pump (supplying pilot hydraulic pressure to the control valve);
3. Working hydraulic circuit: hydraulic oil tank, working pump, multi-way valve, lifting cylinder, and tipping cylinder;
4. Travel hydraulic circuit: transmission oil sump, travel pump, one line to the torque converter, one line to the gear position valve, and transmission clutch;
5. Drive: drive shaft, main differential, wheel-side reducer;
6. Steering hydraulic circuit: oil tank, steering pump, flow control valve (or priority valve), steering gear, and steering cylinder;
7. Transmissions are available in two types: integrated (planetary) and separate (fixed-shaft).
